Great Rooms Start with Great Lighting

Wall SconcesWall Sconces provide a simple touch of light for a cozy environment. They create a calm feel to smaller areas of your home. A decorative Wall Sconce will complement the walls of the small areas of your home. They enchance and provide the perfect amount of light to passages and hallways that create a luxuriant comfort along with casual elegance.

Mounting Wall Sconces in a bathroom where so much of your time is spent looking at yourself can create better lighting to speed along your days and enjoy your evenings. Regardless if your bathroom is a large, sprawling retreat or a small ultilitarion space, the lighting needs for a bathroom are typically universal. Mounting Wall Sconces on either side of a bathroom mirror provide much more efficient for a face.

While this ADA guideline may not be very relevant when it comes to other kinds of lighting fixtures, it is of extreme importance when it comes to wall sconces as the majority of wall sconces are placed about 5 ½ to 6 ft from the floor, which is much lower than the height specified in the Act. Thus, if you too are going to mount your wall sconce at the standard height of 5 ½ to 6 ft, make sure it is an ADA sconce.

The restrictions with ADA wall sconces are only limited to how much they project out from the wall. There are no restrictions as far as the size of the sconces is concerned. Thus, your ADA sconce can be as small as 8 to 10 inches in height or as big as couple of feet in height and width, as long as they do not extend more than 4 inches from the wall. If mounting your wall sconce at a height greater than 6 ft 8 inches, it need not be ADA compliant.

HOW TO MOUNT WALL SCONCES

Wall Sconce SizingOne of the most common challenges of mounting a Wall Sconce is deciding on the hieght of the fixture. If the ceilings in your home are high, then you may want to consider hanging your wall sconces at a 7 foot height. This will provide a proportionality look along with adequate lighting. If your home has standard ceilings the sconces should be mounted approximately 5 ½ to 6 feet from the floor.
